Nowadays, people have become more engaged with their smartphones on social networking sites, streaming audio, video, online games, shopping, and education, etc. But for all these activities, an Android device needs Internet connectivity otherwise a smartphone device has no benefit.
How to reduce data usage by using Android tricks?
If you have a limited mobile data plan on your mobile, then many users lose connectivity in full data utilization before the last date. After that, you do not understand where this much data had been used? And then you feel frustrated. Therefore, it is always better to set a limit on how much data should be used and how much data should be used after it is set on your Android Smartphone.
Many apps on your Android Smartphone consume more data. So, you can reduce the usage of mobile data by proper configuration of the Android device.
i) Turn off mobile data:
You should turn off your mobile data option to avoid using excess data when not using data on your mobile. This is a basic step in which most of us would not pay attention.
ii) Turn off push notifications:
If the mobile has push notification apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and email, then turn them off when you don’t need them. By turning off push notifications, you can not only save your mobile data but also save the mobile’s battery life. To turn off push notifications,
Go to Setting -> Apps -> Select the app whose notifications are to be turned off and uncheck Show notification.
iii) Restrict background data:
There are many such apps on Android which run in the background and consume data without your knowledge. Data access is required for WhatsApp, Facebook updates, online games, high-frequency e-mail inbox checks, automatic application updates, notifications, and other background activities.
So, you have to find out which apps are using the most data and to do this Android tricks
- Firstly, Go to Settings > Tap the Data Usage Option.
Here, you can set the data range of your data usage and set the limit of data.
- To set the mobile data limit > Turn on the option. Then drag the orange color line and set your data using limit. (When you reach this data limit, you will be alerted.)
Also, you will see all the apps that have internet access and they will get a report of how much data is being used. If the app is using more data, then select the app and select the checkbox to Restrict background data.
iv) Update Google Play apps over Wi-Fi only
This is a good feature to keep apps up-to-date, but today almost all games and other applications are over 50 MB. That’s why if you have 20 apps on your Android mobile and even updated 5 of them a week, it will still cost you 250 MB of data. So if you have Wi-Fi in your home or office, you can force all apps to update only on Wi-Fi and save your expensive data.
Tab Menu -> Settings -> Auto-update apps in Google Play Store.
Then Select Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only.
